Differential refractive index detectors are widely used as general-purpose detectors. However, the problem with these detectors is the rather complicated start-up operations when compared with other general-purpose detectors. This is impact due to the limitation imposed by the detection principle by which changes in the refractive index of the eluent containing the sample are detected. Previous units were also difficult to validate. The Shodex RI-101, our latest detector, employs a number of improvements for shortening the time for stabilization. By using a micro-processor it is capable of automatic start-up from eluent replacement to checking the base-line stabilization. This new concept detector, Shodex RI-101, is a differential refractive index detector for use in high performance liquid chromatography. For the use with downsizing GPC columns, RI-104 is suited because of its small flow cell volume. For semi-preparative applications, RI-102 is the ideal detectors.
Exceptional ease - of - use:
(a) Equipped with color liquid crystal display, the detector allows the chromatographer to easily see operational conditions and base line trends at a glance.
(b) With the automatic start-up function, complicated operations from the replacement of the eluent in the reference cell to checking of the base-line stabilization can be made automatically.
(c) Easy validation and calibration of the unit assisted by the HELP function.
Superior stability:
By optimizing the method of temperature control, the time for stabilization after the power has been turned on has been shortened and superior base-line stability has been achieved
Safety measures:
As the detector is equipped with a leak sensor, the pump can be set to stop automatically in case of solvent leakage
Various automated functions
The detector is fitted with external input and output terminals as well as RS232C communication ports, permitting advanced automation by linking the detector with various HPLC systems, enabling advanced automation by combining the detector with various chromatographs.
